Vocational Education and Training providers play a vital role in preparing the next generation of hospitality professionals. As the sector responds to sustainability pressures, digital transformation, changing customer expectations and the need for greater resilience, educators need practical resources that can be used directly in teaching and training.
EcoSmart Hospitality has been designed with this need in mind. The project’s Resources section introduces a suite of outputs that support green and digital skills development in the hospitality sector. These include the Digital and Green Competence Framework and Curriculum, Training Resources, Toolbox and VET Packages, and the Green and Digital Readiness and Risk Assessment Application.
The Digital and Green Competence Framework helps educators identify the key sustainability, digital and ESG-related competencies learners and SMEs need for the future of hospitality. The accompanying Curriculum then turns these competencies into flexible learning pathways that can be embedded into existing hospitality, tourism, business, sustainability or digital skills courses.
For VET providers, this means EcoSmart resources do not need to sit outside current provision. They can be used to update a module, enrich a classroom activity, support blended or online learning, or introduce practical case studies linked to real hospitality challenges. Educators can also use the materials to support continuing professional development or engagement with local hospitality SMEs.
By bringing EcoSmart resources into the classroom, VET organisations can help learners connect theory with practice and understand how sustainability and digital tools shape everyday decision-making in hospitality.
In this way, EcoSmart supports educators, learners and SMEs in building a greener, more digitally confident and future-ready hospitality sector.
